Faces of Nashville with the Craftsman Residential Team

June 24, 2021

This month we got to sit down with the ladies of Craftsman Residential and learn more about their story and what brought them to interior designing. We got to learn a little bit about the company and each girl’s journey to where they are today.

How They Got Started

Craftsman Residential was started by Lucas & Ashley Chesnut as a side gig of flipping houses in Western Kentucky in the mid-2000s. In 2011 there was a shift in focus towards the Nashville Market where the focus became on new construction projects in the heart of Music City.

With continual success here in Nashville, they have steadily been increasing their team. With all their success, they make efforts to donate to charities such as the Make-A-Wish foundation, Hope Clinic for Women, The Wounded Warrior Project and so much more!

Sydney Marszakek

In 2018, Ashley and Lucas reached out to Sydney via Facebook messenger asking if she would like to intern with their company. Having gone to church with the couple and graduating from Western Kentucky University with a B.A. in Interior Design, Sydney accepted.

In 2019, Sydney turned that internship into her full-time job. She always, “had a passion since an early age to become an interior designer”. She used to draw floor plans, space planning with furniture while learning from her grandmother about textiles. These days, Sydney is now a new aunt and fully obsessed with her sweet nephew and an avid Nashville Predators fan.

Katelyn Powell

Next to join the team is Katelyn Powell. She is from Glasgow, KY, and also attended the Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in Science of Marketing. Before she joined Craftsman Residential, she was working in sales for a plumbing company while also working as a consultant for Sydney. She has always had a love for houses so making the transition from sales consulting to interior design was an easy decision for her.

Katelyn is obsessed with her berne-doodle Copper and loves attending concerts. She has been married to the love of her life and college sweetheart for 5 years now. They are avid members at the Long Hollow Baptist Church in Hendersonville, TN.

Katie Henderson

The most recent to join the team is Katie Henderson. Katie also grew up in Western Kentucky, she is originally from Hopkinsville. Inspired by her dad who was in construction, Katie quickly found her love for houses and pursued her passion in Interior Design at Western Kentucky University. Katie started her internship with CR Design in 2019 and turned it into her full-time job in 2020 and moved to Nashville. She now is considered the Tech Guru and Social Media Queen of the group. She loves traveling to the beach in her free time and online shopping.

When coming to a decision on where to choose office space, the girls chose the Green Hills Office Suites because not only was it close to their job sites but also right down the street from the Green Hills Mall where they frequent. They have really enjoyed our staff and events we do in our center such as breakfast and our happy hour cart. They could not have found a more perfect office to fit the three of them in such a prime location.
