As the years go by, we can truly appreciate our long-term members, and we grow to know each other in our coworking community. We recently sat down with Attorney Francis King, and learned some new things about him, after more than two years of working together. Read more here:
Originally from New York City, Francis King moved to Massachusetts to attend Clark University, where he earned a BA in Government and International Relations before moving on to New England School of Law in Boston. He moved back to his hometown to join a law firm in Manhattan, where he successfully practiced Business Litigation Law for 25 years.
In 2007, Francis found himself longing to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, and to find a warmer climate. He found the perfect balance here in Nashville, where we have enough great things to do, while still maintaining that small town vibe. And, of course, though the weather can be unpredictable, it sure beats those harsh northeast winters! And as the best bonus of all, while he was a widower when he arrived in Nashville, he met Vicki just six months later, and they will celebrate their 12th wedding anniversary this year!
Taking a short break from practicing law, Francis too the opportunity to teach Social Studies to High School students for a year, while getting acclimated to the South. Soon enough, however, he was ready to get back into law, although he started on a new path this time. Francis decided to get into Family Law and opened his own firm in 2009. He shared with me how much he enjoys working with family law clients, and helping them get through some of the most difficult times of their lives, while protecting their rights and working hard to get the best possible outcome. He believes in getting to a resolution as efficiently and inexpensively as possible in order to best serve his clients and their families. He truly cares about his clients, as evidenced by his excellent 5-star Google Reviews!
When I asked him what advice he would like to impart to young entrepreneurs, he wanted to encourage young people thinking of starting their own business to work for someone else who is in their chosen filed for a few years first, and absorb all the knowledge they can from them to build a great foundation for their own business, and then go work for themselves as quickly as possible. He also advises that young people make sure that their chosen field is what they really want, not because it’s easy, but because it can be very rewarding. He pointed out that Thomas Edison failed a hundred times before he successfully invented the lightbulb, and when you’re still young, you have plenty of time to make mistakes, and learn from them.
Francis and his wife love living and working in Nashville, with one of their favorite activities being frequent visits to the Bluebird Café. In fact, they normally go see quite a few live music shows in the area, something they can’t wait to get back into soon. He also plays some guitar, and even the piano!
Green Hills Office Suites is proud to work with the Law Offices of Francis King, and we hope to continue for many more years. Francis finds our location to be perfect for him, as he lives nearby, and also very accessible for his clients, who enjoy the free and easy parking. He also enjoys having staff on hand to help with anything that might come up, and the professional image that carries throughout our workspace.
