Summer is here and with it scorching hot temperatures. But don’t let that hinder you from getting some much deserved and long waited for vitamin D. Though you might be tempted to stay indoors with the much-needed AC on, there are plenty of outdoor things you can do that both fun and can also help you cool down a bit.
- Indulge in some ice cream or something cold
Summer days are the perfect excuse to go out for a walk and indulge in some delicious ice cream (if you’re not much of a fan of ice cream, you can get a smoothie or frappe coffee). It’s the perfect excuse to leave the house, stroll around, do some window (or actual) shopping, and enjoy the sunshine.
- Hit the Lake
As you know, the Greater Nashville area is home to several ponds and lakes. Heading out for the weekend or even just for one day is a great way to engage in some family fun and beat the heat. All you need is a swimsuit, sunblock, snacks, lots of water and you’re ready to go.
- Go Caving
If you feel like you’ve had your fair share of Vitamin D and enough sunshine to last you a while, you should go caving. You can visit Mammoth Cave, Cumberland Caverns, Ruby Falls, or Raccoon Caverns. The average temperature inside caves is about 60 degrees, so you won’t be missing your house’s AC.
- Visit Nashville Shores
This is a great option especially if you have kids. Nashville Shores offers several entertainment options, including a wave pool, slides, a tree house, boat rentals, a lazy river, and more. If you’re thinking about going more than once this Summer, you should consider getting a season pass as the admission rate can add up.
- Catch a Show Indoors
If all else fails and you’re desperate for some AC, don’t stay at home. Instead, catch and indoors show. Nashville is always buzzing with events and activities. Cirque Du Soleil’s Corteo will debut in Tennessee this July. Also known as Music City, Nashville is the perfect spot to attend a live music concert. You can also visit the city’s museums or catch the latest movie in the theater.
